A paver wall torn out over a quarter inch, and built again

Paver work is decided underneath it. A base compacted in shallow lifts is slower to build and it is the difference between a wall that stays true and one that moves.

On this project the crew built the base a few inches at a time rather than filling it and compacting once at the end. When the back paver wall turned out to be roughly a quarter of an inch off, they took it down and rebuilt it.

“Craig contacted me continuously throughout the project to see if we had any questions and to make sure that all was going well. He has great followup. He and his workers were really perfectionists. They had much of the back paver wall up when they noticed that is was off by about 1/4″. They ripped it all out and started over. Their paver work was excellent. They built a very strong base by compacting a few inches at a time. Most landscapers would put all of the fill in and then try to compact it all. Their paver work was some of the best that I have seen. The plantings went well and followed the plans very well. The project took a little longer than expected, but we had a lot of rain and they were very methodical to make sure the everything was done correctly.”

Retaining walls and planting together

Retaining walls hold back soil while providing a decorative element, and raised garden beds position planting for easier maintenance. Getting the wall right first is what lets the planting in front of it be set once and left alone.
